In July 2025, the Yawanawá made their first visit to Cosmos Ranch, marking a significant moment of cultural exchange and shared experience. Their stay lasted only two weeks, but it opened a door to deeper understanding, greater beauty and collaboration. We collaborated with one of our preferred partners, Solarpunk Summit, to bring the tribe to Austin, Texas, creating a unique space for genuine connection.
Now, we are honored to welcome the Yawanawá back to Cosmos Ranch for an extended stay of two full months, allowing for even richer interactions and shared growth.
The First Visit: Building Foundations in Austin
The initial visit of the Yawanawá was brief but impactful. Through collaboration with Solarpunk Summit, the tribe traveled to Austin, Texas, for the first time. This event was more than a cultural showcase; it was an intimate window of time designed to foster authentic relationships.
During those two weeks, the focus was on creating space for meaningful dialogue and shared experiences. This time allowed both the tribe and hosts to engage deeply, exchanging stories, traditions, and perspectives. This approach helped break down barriers and build trust, setting the stage for future collaboration.
Key highlights from the Austin visit included:
Hape + Song Circle with traditional Yawanawá sacred music and rituals, offering attendees hands-on learning.
Storytelling sessions where elders shared the tribe’s history and worldview.
Community meals that emphasized connection through shared nourishment.
This time together planted seeds of mutual respect and curiosity that have grown into a lasting partnership.
Returning to Cosmos Ranch: A Longer Stay for Deeper Connection
Welcoming the Yawanawá back to Cosmos Ranch for two months offers a rare opportunity to expand on the foundation laid during their first visit. The extended stay allows for a more relaxed pace and the chance to engage in ongoing projects and cultural exchanges.
The ranch’s natural setting provides an ideal backdrop for this collaboration. Surrounded by open land and quiet spaces, the tribe can share their knowledge and traditions in an environment that supports reflection and creativity.
During this period, several activities and initiatives are planned:
Cultural workshops led by Yawanawá members, including traditional music, dance, and storytelling.
Environmental projects that combine indigenous ecological knowledge with sustainable practices at the ranch.
Community gatherings that invite local residents and visitors to participate in shared celebrations and learning.
This extended engagement encourages ongoing dialogue and the development of projects that honor the tribe’s heritage while fostering new connections.
The Importance of Genuine Connection Without Urgency
One of the most valuable lessons from the initial visit was the power of slowing down. In today’s fast-paced world, meaningful connection often suffers under tight schedules and constant distractions. By creating a space without urgency, Cosmos Ranch and Solarpunk Summit allowed the Yawanawá and their hosts to engage fully and authentically.
This approach benefits everyone involved:
It builds trust by showing respect for the tribe’s time and traditions.
It encourages openness, allowing participants to share more deeply.
It supports creativity and collaboration by removing pressure and deadlines.
It fosters lasting relationships that extend beyond the visit itself.
The two-month stay will deepen this experience, providing time for reflection, learning, and shared growth.
What This Collaboration Means for the Future
The partnership between Cosmos Ranch and the Yawanawá tribe is more than a series of visits. It represents a commitment to cultural exchange, environmental stewardship, and community building.
By welcoming the Yawanawá back for a longer stay, we at Cosmos Ranch are dedication to:
Honoring indigenous knowledge and traditions.
Creating spaces for intercultural dialogue that enrich all participants.
Supporting sustainable practices that benefit both people and the planet.
Building a community rooted in respect and shared values.
This collaboration serves as a model for how organizations can work with indigenous communities in ways that are respectful, meaningful, and mutually beneficial.
Looking Ahead: Continuing the Journey Together
The return of the Yawanawá to Cosmos Ranch marks a new chapter in an ongoing story of connection and collaboration. As the tribe shares their culture and wisdom in May & June 2026, the ranch community and visitors will have the chance to learn, grow, and build lasting relationships.
This experience invites everyone to slow down, listen, and engage with openness and respect. It reminds us that true connection takes time and that by working together, we can create spaces where diverse voices are heard and valued.
As we welcome the Yawanawá back, we do so with gratitude for their trust, their presence, and the opportunity to walk together in right relationship.
We look forward to sharing updates and stories from this special time at Cosmos Ranch and invite you to join us in celebrating the Yawanawá’s return.
See you in May & June! More will be shared as this time unfolds.
